A Thought on Memorial Day and an Amazing Turkey Feta Burger Recipe!

Yahoo!  Today is Memorial Day!  I hope y'all have had a wonderful weekend playing, having fun, doing house projects, and or relaxing!  This weekend has been full of work for us. I posted on Instagram a photo of us ripping out our old carpet in our living room.  We're installing new floors, baseboards, tile, and will be painting our doors.

Today is a day that a lot of us get together with close friends and family and remember those we lost who served our country.  Last year for Memorial Day my family and I visited my Grandpa's grave site.  I was really close with my Grandpa.  He served in WWII and was enlisted a month after my grandparents were married.  He was lucky enough to have survived lived until he was 92 and was married to my Grandma for almost 70 years.  He lived a long happy and fulfilling life, but it was still was hard to say goodbye.

On this Memorial Day I'm so grateful for those brave and strong men and women who have given up their lives to serve our country so that my family and I can live with the freedoms we have.  I know most of us take our freedoms for granted, I know I do.  I was thinking about how lucky I am to have the freedom to write my random thoughts and opinions on this blog.  That my family can practice our faith and religion, my children will be able to have an education, and that I have the opportunity to shape my future.  So thank you to all of those service women and men who have served our country!

If you're firing up the grill up today and want to make something that is easy, delicious, and healthy then you gotta make these Feta and Spinach Turkey Burgers. These are perfect if you're watching your carb intake, or trying to eat healthy.

Weight Loss, Bra Buying, and a Bra Makeover with Diana from Livy Loves to Run

weight loss and bra buying from fry sauce and grits

When you have an extreme weight loss like my good friend Diana from Livy Loves to Run where she lost 100 pounds, yes that's what I said, 100 POUNDS!  You see a lot of changes in your body.  Most of those changes are very much welcomed, but sometimes one part of the body you didn't expect to change so much is your boobs.  Most women when they lose weight they tend to lose it in their boobs (boobs are made from fatty tissue, go figure).  I contacted Diana and asked her if I could fit her because she hadn't been fitted for a bra before her weight loss!  This is tragedy in my eyes.  I was so excited when she enthusiastically accepted for this makeover and shopping trip.

Almost Paleo Energy Breakfast Brownies

Paleo Energy Breakfast Brownies from Fry Sauce and Grits

Not many of you know this, but I manage the social media for a site called My Recipe Magic.  It was created by the Six Sisters' (my fabulous bosses), it's like a Pinterest inspired place for all things food.  I was on there and found this breakfast brownies recipe from Eat. Drink. Love here, but a lot of the ingredients in the recipe I'm trying to avoid to eat more healthy.  So I thought I'd swap out some of the ingredients with Paleo friendly ones and tada, an all star Paleo recipe was created.  The reason why I call this recipe "Almost" is because there's one ingredient that's not 100% Paleo, and that's oats.  Sorry, I cannot live without some kind of grain in my diet.  It's not going to happen.  These bars are really moist, filling, and they have some energy boosting ingredients to make them the perfect way to start the morning.

$100 Albion giveaway and working out with friends at The Gym

For the past year I've been going to the gym and I feel like I've been doing the same workout.  A couple weeks ago I was starting to feel really unmotivated and didn't even want to hear the word gym or workout, because I was so sick and tired of it.  Do you ever feel that way where you go through stages where you're really good at eating healthy and exercising and then you go through periods when it's the last thing you want to do?  It's been happening more than I'd like to admit.

P3 Portable Protein Packs, the perfect travel snack!

I am a member of the Collective Bias Social Fabric Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser. #CollectiveBias

My husband McKay and I went on a mini vacation down to Southern Utah to soak up the sun, get some much needed rest and relaxation, and to enjoy the outdoors.  I love to travel, but one of the things I don't like about traveling I feel like I come back feeling gross, bloated, and gained five pounds.  Eating out every meal and not being on a normal routine, can do a number on your body.  I try to avoid this by preparing and packing my own meals and snacks, but sometimes "ain't nobody got time for that!"  Sometimes you just need a little help.  I found these new Oscar Mayer P3 Portable Protein Pack and let me tell you it's the perfect snack full of protein: nuts, cheese, and lean meat.

I bought four of these #PortableProtein at Walmart and was so surprised at how affordable they are, I found them for $1.00 each!

The P3's are all under 170 calories; you can't find a protein bar less calories than that!  There's no sugar, no carbohydrates, no artificial preservatives, and packs a whopping 14 grams of protein in just one serving!  I was really surprised by how much more satisfied I felt when eating these and didn't feel as hungry, because you know during a road trip, just sitting around for hours can make you really hungry.

Not only would these be a perfect travel snack, they're perfect for on the go women that need some extra fuel in their bodies.

Healthy Protein Snacks from Fry Sauce and Grits

There's four different P3 flavors and all of them are DELICIOUS!  #MeatCheeseNuts
  • Applewood smoked turkey breast with reduced fat marbled Colby and Monterey jack cheese and dry roasted almonds
  • Applewood smoked ham with reduced fat sharp cheddar cheese and dry roasted almonds
  • Rotisserie smoked chicken breast with reduced fat cheddar cheese and dry roasted peanuts
  • Slow roasted turkey breast with reduced fat cheddar cheese and dry roasted peanuts

Here's me enjoying my P3 Portable Protein Pack.  No worries, I'm not driving, we're parked.

I highly recommend these snacks. We ended up buying a couple more for our way home!  If you're wondering what's in my travel bag: March Better Homes & Garden, an apple, 3 packs of Oscar Mayer P3's (I ate one already), Kate Spade glasses (thank you big huge sale at Nordstrom Rack), Say Goodbye to Survival Mode from Crystal Paine, not shown lipstick and chapstick, hand lotion, gum, phone, and water bottle.

We got back home safely and soundly.  I'm so glad I didn't gain those five pounds, I only gained one, and I can thank to these protein packed and nutritious snacks for curbing my appetite for unhealthy treats.

Thanks Oscar Mayer and Collective Bias for supporting Fry Sauce & Grits.

The 21 Best Sports Bras for Large and Small Busted Gals!

21 Best Sports Bras for Large and Small Bra Sizes from Fry Sauce and Grits

I like to be really active and exercise and one of the most important parts of this is having a good sports bra.  If you don't have a supportive and comfortable sports bra this can make working out and being active really difficult and painful, especially if you feel like your boobs are hitting you in the face or if you feel like you have "headlights" or protruding nipples showing through your bra, yikes!

I recently wrote an article about the three easy steps to finding the perfect fitting sports bra, and today I'm going to tell you which sports bras are the best ones for different type of activities (low impact and high impact) and for small and large cup sizes.  I'd recommend you reading this article before you continue, it will just make this article make more sense.

Some women ask why they need more than just sports bra.  Bras are a lot like shoes, you wouldn't wear a pair of flip flops while trying to run a marathon, and you certainly wouldn't wear a pair of Chacos to a black tie dinner.  You have different bras for different activities, your needs, and your size.  I've taken the guessing work out for you and have compiled a list of my favorite 21 sports bras I recommend for large and small busted women, let's dive in!
