An Updo For The Ladies: Easy as 1,2,3
Hello There!
A few weeks ago I went and got a curly cut, and decided to get a bit of an a-line. I love the new do, but I have been struggling with pulling my hair back to get it out of my face. Now that I have these long curls in front, and these short ridiculous ones in back, I had to get a little inventive to come up with something to get my hairs up, since I wear my hair up about 90% of the day. If your hair is short this is a pretty little updo in three steps that you yourself can achieve, and good news, it works with you ladies with medium to long hair too!
Step 1: begin by pulling hair half up
Step 2: secure with bobby pins in a "X"
Step 3: Finish by pulling the remainder of your hair rolling it upwards (tucking the ends inward), and securing again with bobby pins.
And there you go; a sweet little updo!

Front Waterfall with Braided Headband from MyMommyStyle
Hello! My name is Cassia, and I blog over at MyMommyStyle and I am so honored to be able to guest post here at Fry Sauce and Grits today. Courtney and I are officially cyber friends, despite the fact that she lives in my hometown of Kaysville, UT (but whenever I finally make it back to Utah, I know we'll be real life friends too!)
MyMommyStyle.com is group of mommies (go figure, right?) who love to blog about Family, Food, Fashion Photography and Fun. I think as women, we wear too many hats (and shoes!). We are so many things to so many people. At My Mommy Style, we just want to create a place for the ladies (or guys too if they want) to unwind, come and find inspiration, camaraderie, share a giggle or two along with the occasional tear, and embrace the beauty (and humor) that is motherhood.
As I write this, I am 29 and I’m a Mommy, a Perpetual student (though I do have a BA degree in Journalism, which I have been teased mercilessly for throughout my life!), a sometimes photographer, graphic designer and an all-too-honest blogger. I married my all-American soldier 7 years ago and now we have our 3 year old and twin babies. It's the most crazy, beautiful adventure of my life!
Today I am doing something that I have never done before...a VLOG! Do y'all hate your real life voice as much as I hate mine? Somehow it sounds less annoying in my own head.
Last week I was at the mall when I saw the most adorable little 3 year old girl with gobs of long, dark gorgeous hair, and it was styled so beautifully, I just had to get a closer look. Her equally beautiful mommy came up and we both tried to communicate, her in her broken English, and me in my VERY broken Spanish, but I think I got the gist.
This front waterfall braid with a braided headband is so simple, fresh, and maybe even a little edgy? Either way, it's great to throw into the mix! Let me know if you have any questions or comments, I'd love to hear from ya! Also, don't forget to stop on by MyMommyStyle.com.
Thanks for watchin' my first ever (slightly awkward) vlog! xox

Gussied Up Gatsby Style
Lately, I can't get enough of the Gatsby craze! Much to my dismay, I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have been dying ever since I saw the preview. The drop waist dresses, the art deco feel, the pin curls and wave sets. Swoon!
Here in Alabama, the days are getting warmer, and the air is feeling heavy and I need a quick and simple hairdo I can do when I'm in a rush in the mornings.
This has proven to be just the ticket!
Here is the step by step tutorial.
Things you'll need:
1. A stretchy headband. I have found I like it to have the double-looped elastic on the back because you can tuck the hair under one elastic, and then secure it against your head with the other elastic.
2. A comb
3. Maybe a few bobby pins
4. A light hair spray, I like Fekkai Sheer Hold
Model: Brittany Poe, Makeup: Melanie Dobson
1. Part your hair and place the headband over the top of the head.
2. Slide the headband down over the crown at a position that is comfortable for you.
3. Start by taking one section and wrapping it up under one of the elastics.
4. Then, take larger sections, and wrap the hair around and keep tucking until the rest of the hair is rolled up under the elastic.
5. I like more of an asymmetrical look, and gather the hair more to one side.
Ta da! Super quick Gatsby hair! Like they say down here, "Easy as pie!"
